Being a firm believer, it is my understanding that everything that happens, happens for a reason and is under control. There is no way I want to give the pandemic, Covid-19 any credence other to add that it took the whole world by complete surprise. Devastating, malicious and respecting no boundaries or borders. It has taken me all this time to come to term with this; however, the direct effect is that I became utterly demotivated and introspective.

The sudden passing of Johan Wilke a personal friend and a committed contributor to the success of my previous publication came as a complete shock. The realization that our lives are not in our hands and could be taken from us in a moment became a reality. At the time of his departure, he was with a friend. She shared with me that Johan passed very suddenly from a heart attack and was content when it happened. I extend my condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. Johan is going to be missed, and while I am able, I will commit to keeping his brilliance alive.

Now having been  able to take stock of the situation, I have been able to re-evaluate the reasons why I started Digital Photo SA to begin with. Obvious that Camera&Image was and still remains a considerable influence and the respect that my readers and the entire photographic industry had for me is what I am now relying on. The Internet as good as it is has absolutely no barriers for entry. All you need do is acquire a channel, sit at a keyboard and post away to be an absolute expert in that field. Harsh, I know, but this is my personal opinion, and I will stand by what I have just said.

I am asking and needing feedback from you as ultimately I am doing this for you our readers. I have so much good material that I know will inspire and motivate you. What is presented visually, whether it be digital or film is what matters. I used the time, went back through some of the archived material from my previous publication, and I will be sharing some of this with you. I understand that we are living in a different world today, and we must remain relevant and embrace the change. I am very fortunate that I have a group of very knowledgeable people in the team who are well able to keep me on track and is our aim to do this but without losing my or our identity.
